Eumenes (/ j uː ˈ m ɛ n iː z /; Greek: Εὐμένης; c. 362 – 316 BC) was a Greek general and satrap. He participated in the Wars of Alexander the Great serving as both Alexander’s personal secretary and as a battlefield commander. In 66–67 Plutarch studied mathematics and philosophy at Athens under the philosopher Ammonius. Public duties later took him several times to Rome, where he lectured on philosophy, made many friends, and perhaps enjoyed the acquaintance of the emperors Trajan and Hadrian. Plutarch of Athens, (died 431/432 ce), Greek philosopher who preceded Syrianus as head of the Platonic school at Athens and who was one of the teachers of the Greek philosopher Proclus. Plutarch was born at Chaeronea in Boeotia, a district of Greece.

So, either two entire biographies (in both Wikipedia and Britannica) are completely screwed up by centuries, or there is some other Plutarch who was important enough to either be almost or actually the head of Plato's Academy (I think he was in fact the head preceding Proclus, as the EB quote mentions him and Syrianus- our article on Syrianus has him succeeding Proclus, implying that Plutarch 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Lysander. according to Plutarch he was a Heraclid, though not of either royal family. We do not know how he rose to eminence: he first appears as admiral of the Spartan navy in 407 B.C. The story of his influence with Cyrus the Younger, his naval victory off Notium, Plutarch (45–120 CE) was a Greek philosopher and biographer whose best known works are the Parallel Lives and the Moralia. Plutarch’s most famous work The Parallel Lives pairs Therefore, the queen received the name Olympias.

Plutarch was born at Chaeronea in Boeotia, a district of Greece. He was educated in philosophy in Athens and spent several years in Rome, where he lectured on philosophy. In his last days he was a magistrate and priest in his native city. He died after the year 119.
